Directory Listing is a search website for finding businesses and people in Sweden. Visitors type what they are looking for and where, then compare results on a list and a map and contact the business directly.
It was designed by Masum Rana, founder of Premium Design Company.
What was designed
- Homepage: one search box with two fields, “what” and “where”, over a full-screen photo, with shortcuts to the map, directions and all services.
- Business results: a numbered list with each business’s logo, address, phone and short description, quick links to its website, menu and opening hours, and contact and more-info buttons. A map beside the list shows where results cluster.
- People results: the same layout for people, with name, company, address and phone.
- Filters: price level, “open now” and “online booking”, in one row above the results.
Design decisions
Two search fields, nothing else. Directory visitors know what they want and roughly where. A “what” field and a “where” field cover almost every search without a form to fill in.
Businesses and people as tabs. The same search can return both. Tabs with a count on each let visitors switch without searching again.
The phone number is never hidden. On a directory, calling is often the goal. Every result shows the number in full, in colour, without an extra click.
